Abstract

Geographical information applied to the ancient Greek world, in general, and to the elassical Athens, in particular, is rarely found in published artieles and I or books. Nevertheless, when it is available, the researcher s concern in relating it with thefacts given by earlier authors is not observed. This article tries to analyse the available information about the weather and the rain-fall in Greece, relating them to the ancient Greek author s given informaiion. The next step, witlz this set of facts, will be to verify what kind of strategy (or strategies) the Auic farmer adopted to surmount the great number of daily obstaeles to ensure his survival.
