Histórias da e para a “Dança Contemporânea”: repensando a pedagogia da história da dança na e a partir da periferia

Resumo

O artigo defende que a verdadeira descolonização da pedagogia da história da dança requer o desmantelamento das hierarquias epistemológicas de valor que promovem apenas certas danças como dignas de teorização estética e atenção crítica. Essas danças valorizadas são as da Europa e da neo-Europa, geralmente encenadas para um público e sempre rotuladas como “arte”. Frequentemente, elas se apropriam de práticas do campo muito mais amplo da dança, apresentando essas apropriações como novidades dentro das instituições artísticas do Norte Global que dominam o discurso sobre a dança, incluindo quem é considerado “profissional” e o que é valioso o suficiente para constituir o assunto “central” para as futuras gerações de dançarinos – tanto na prática quanto na teoria. No processo de extrativismo colonialista, os quadros teóricos para a dança artística, hostis à vida em constante mudança das danças, utilizam a história (singular) para fazer com que as danças das periferias dos (neo-)impérios (antigos) europeus apareçam ou dentro de quadros antropológicos de alteridade exótica e cultura folclórica, ou como reações tardias ao centro e à vanguarda no coração desses impérios. Traçando o surgimento do discurso não marcado como branco e seus efeitos nos livros didáticos e na pedagogia da história da dança, este artigo sugere alguns passos em direção a um futuro mais equitativo.

Biografia do Autor

Hanna Järvinen , Uniarts Helsinki's Academy Of Fine Arts, Finlândia.

A Dra. Hanna Järvinen trabalha como professora universitária no Instituto de Pesquisa e no Centro de Pesquisa em Artes Cênicas da Academia de Teatro da UNIARTS Helsinki, na Finlândia. Ela possui o título de docente em História da Dança pela Universidade de Turku. Autora de Dancing Genius (Palgrave Macmillan 2014) e de oito livros editados, bem como, de vários artigos e capítulos de livros, a sua investigação combina estudos de dança com estudos de performance, história, estudos culturais e investigação artística. Em particular, ela tem se interessado por autoria e canonização, pós-colonialismo e descolonização, e questões de materialidade e contemporaneidade na prática artística. Ela gosta de fazer performances e colaborar com artistas, e seus projetos de pesquisa recentes incluem o projeto de workshop do Conselho Sueco de Pesquisa Spectral Collaborations (2019-2020) e o projeto da Academia da Finlândia How to Do Things with Performance (2016-2021).
