This article approaches the participation of the author of this work in the Casino Rueda Congress, organized by SalsaNor and held in Spain in 2023. The focus of this writing is on musicality and gender issues inherent to the practice of two variations of the traditional dance model the Rueda de Casino: Rueda Cruzada and Rueda Switch. The discussions arising from these variants of Rueda showed the dynamism of popular practice, which is in a constant process of reformulation. It was possible to verify that the experiences at the event enabled new ways of thinking about the content inherent to ballroom dancing, enriching the training of dance teacher.
