Author’s music and Kleber Mendonça Filho’s cinema
Abstract
Starting from the concept of “auteur music” proposed by Claudia Gorbman, this article aims to investigate how this phenomenon can be identified in Kleber Mendonça Filho’s cinema. The aim is to understand if, through the musical soundtrack of the director’s work, it is possible to establish authorial marks and, therefore, points of approximation and dialogue between his films. To this end, it is proposed to analyze all his feature films until now (Neighbouring sounds, Aquarius and Bacurau), giving special attention to the use of popular music in the film narratives.
