The collaborative process in the development of the work “Brain Washed, Brain Dead”
Abstract
This paper presents the collaborative approach developed by Thais Montanari through the creation of the work Brain Washed, Brain Dead between the years 2016 and 2020. The work consists of six versions and involved twelve musicians and a filmmaker, while being created and presented in four different countries. This text identifies the methodologies of the collaborative process adopted by the composer and shows the impact of the creation contexts on the different versions of the work: the infrastructure, the availability of technological tools, the artistic practices and experiences of the collaborators, besides discussing the creation process and artistic result of each version.
