This article aims at Walter Benjamin's conception of infancy in its double articulation with memory and experience, such as those treated by the author. We will especifically look into the collection of fragments titled “Berlin Childhood around 1900”, in which Benjamin conceives childhood not as a phase in human life to be overcome, but as a suspension of linear and chronological time, from which things as past and present, internal and external, establish a correspondence that breaks the mechanical reproductive proccess of individual and social history.
