Abstract

In this paper my goal is to analyze what place art occupies in the design of two important writers: Proust and Sartre. I will try to confront both interpretations about the importance of art in general and literature in particular. Both writers, at some point in their lives, imparts the art of writing a place of privilege, an exclusive status above all other possibilities of existence. But at the end of the work of each of these authors, their interpretation on the value of the art of writing diverges until they arrived at opposing viewpoints. Then try to elucidate these perspectives on the powers or (im) powers of literature.

Keywords: Proust; Sartre; Art; powers; literature.
