As Geography was constructed as a scientific discipline over time, reflective moments have provoked periodic crises caused by the incapacity of the discipline to critically analyze reality. In an attempt to overcome superficial readings Geography urgently needs to reflect on methods and methodological procedures that could make the discipline a more critical social science. This article presents a theoretical contribution to understanding method as a way of conceiving the world, movement of thought and action that help produce a critical perspective. The centrality of space and the urban are shown to provide the means for understanding the contemporary world and capitalist transformations, which require Geography to adjust its focus of social issues.Metrics
