Abstract

This article analyzes how photography can be a source of geographic knowledge. Images produced by photography are presented as guides to what distance communicates. Photographs are shown to be cultural and visual artifacts akin to landscapes and a theory of images is presented. The result of this reflection is a mixture of visual methodologies and sources that together constitute a possible path for geographical research.
