This work presents the role of tourism in promoting economic integration between Brazil, Bolivia, Peru and Chile. Data are presented and analyzed concerning regional potentialities. Currently the adverse conditions experienced in travel within each of these countries make it difficult to sell tourism products except to the more adventurous travelers willing to take risks. Without the presence of the State and support in the form of services which attend to local basic necessities tourism will remain fragile and subject to extremely difficult situations.
