The article aims to problematize the undestanding of one of the initiatory ceremonies of Afrodiasporic religions of Yoruba origin, known as ikomojade. The central argument argues that it is not a baptism, as it is often treatead, but a public presentation of the children who have just been born. The main implication of this approach is to avoid any possible syncretic approach, distinguishing ikomojade from other religious traditions.
