The basic premise of this article is the assertion that "this is not that", an expression I created to demonstrate that there are no identities between Western cultures and Yorùbá culture (or African culture in general), the object of my research.
The purpose of this article is to present the first steps of an African philosophy produced on Brazilian soil, based on a hermeneutic/philological/morphological approach to some linguistic elements of traditional Yorùbá culture.
I have not entered into a debate about the origin and/or universality of philosophy, or about the existence (or not) of other philosophies besides the Greek one. Instead, I have taken a propositional (less reactive) stance and simply presented in these articles some preliminary results that I have already achieved in this production.
