Abstract

The article aims to evaluate the resonances of Derrida's thought in the film Orlando – my political biography by Preciado. Although Derrida does not dedicate any book to transgenderity, gender issues are important to understand his work, particularly what the French-Algerian calls phallocentrism – the hegemony of the masculine and heteronormative subject in the history of the West. Considering the fundamental theme of Preciado's film, the issue of transgenderity and the singularities it involves, our intention is to focus on the injunctions between the two philosophers, seeking to highlight the novelty that permeates Preciado's film.
