Journal History

The Diadorim Scientific Journal was founded in 2006. The Diadorim Journal was created because the Vernacular Letters PostGraduate Program aims to bring together Portuguese speaking voices and writings that are in Brazil and around the world and, at the same time, serve as a reference and guidance for new research and interlocutions.

The choice of the name of such brazilian scientific publication should comprise the two areas of action of The PostGraduate Program: language and literature, “uniting, harmoniously, two strands which seek identical paths and, at the same time, distinct paths in order to become originals: language that, in the hands of the men of letters, is so well woven; literature which needs a strong and consolidated language to be fully realized" (Flávia Vieira).  The choice of the name of the fascinating character from Guimarães Rosa´s literary work (Diadorim) was timely, since the fictionist committed to unite language and literatures of portuguese language in Brazil, in Europe and in Africa.

Since it was created, two issues of the journal have been released each year devoted to a wide variety of themes that cover the different fields of research developed by the faculty of the journal, by the scientists and academicians at the PostGraduate Program in which the journal was idealized. The editors/organizers of each issue are specialists on the themes proposed.  In 2002, Diadorim: revista de estudos linguísticos e literários (journal of linguistic and literary studies) became an online journal which has made easier the access to selected articles that have been produced by researchers form Brazil and abroad.

From 2020, The Diadorim Journal has three issues for each annual volume. Each issue necessarily has a language dossier and a literature dossier, that bring together original articles/papers from national and foreign researchers.
