The article discusses this author’s analyses of crime and urban sociability. Reviewing Machado da Silva’s papers and book chapters on the subject, the text highlights how both the methodological turn towards everyday life and the theoretical reframing of the domination question support the innovative sociological interpretation the sociologist provides about urban violence in Brazil. The paper stresses that this analytical approach follows Machado da Silva’s previous research on urban lower classes’ daily lives.Published
