É doutor pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências Sociais (PPG Ciências Sociais) da Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp, Brasil), mestre em analyse régionale et aménagement de l'espace pela Universidade de Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne (Paris 1, França) e graduado em ciências sociais pela UFBa.
