This paper analyzes the Security Sector Reform (SSR) agenda in its adaptation to Brazilian conditions that pend towards authoritarianism. We defend the hypothesis that, in Brazil, the RSS agenda is processed to legitimize the increase of military interventions in the social domain, updating procedures from the National Security Doctrine. Through primary source research and a case study, we analyze the federal intervention in Rio de Janeiro in 2018, planned and carried out by the Armed Forces after a historical series of military engagement in pacification and Law and Order Guarantee operations.Downloads
