“Debates, Demands, and Opportunities”: The Impact of the Dynamics of the First Capital Command on the Incarceration of Women and LGBTQIA+ Individuals in the “Cadeia do Comando” Based on the narratives of twelve cisgender women, lesbians, and transgender men serving sentences at the women's prison Penitenciária Feminina de Sant’Anna — known as “Cadeia do Comando” — this article investigates how the mechanisms of the PCC operate. It analyzes how procedures, debates, demands, and opportunities shape daily life and the serving of sentences. It concludes that, although the PCC has come to include women, its leadership remains male and grounded in patriarchal logic, which regulates behaviors, emotions, desires, and sexualities within the prison context.
