A morfologia da letra manuscrita: considerações terminológicas voltadas à descrição da minúscula caligráfica

Este artigo oferece uma proposta de nomenclatura para as características morfológicas da letra manuscrita, baseada, sobretudo, nas minúsculas caligráficas antigas e medievais. Visa, com isso, a criar um quadro mínimo de referência terminológica para a descrição paleográfica, propondo, ao lado dos termos em língua portuguesa, equivalentes em alemão, francês, inglês e italiano. Recusando-se a apresentar mera listagem de termos, erige quatro séries de descritores, que correspondem a quatro distintas perspectivas de descrição: descritores transversais, lineares, espaciais e visuais, os últimos subdivididos em três espécies (elementos essenciais, subsidiários e auxiliares). Embora haja espaço para expansão, mesmo no que respeita à morfologia da minúscula caligráfica, pensamos que esse léxico estruturado permitirá tratar a descrição como efetiva linguagem técnica.
