Abstract

In the light of the Feminist Literary Criticism, this article aims at reflecting on  gender relations based on the reading of two short stories written in Portuguese, but from  different nationalities: “O pai”, by the Brazilian Helena Parente Cunha, and “A casa dos  mastros”, by the Cape Verdean Orlanda Amarílis. These short stories bring to light the dramas,  the violence, the discrimination, and the inequalities suffered by the protagonists.
