The present work intends to establish a dialogue between the novel A geração da utopia by the Angolan author Pepetela and the flm O herói directed by Zezé Gamboa. The dialogue between the two works will begin with the reading of a scene from the third part of Pepetela's novel, entitled “O polvo (Abril de 1982)”, and a movement between two consecutive scenes from the feature flm by Zezé Gamboa. Here, these scenes will be thought from a construction based on a cinematographic look, which seems to effect the critical present in its characters.
