The present study explores some of the compositional procedures used by Pepetela in the structure of his novel O cão e os caluandas. We emphasize that there can be no structure without forgetting its contents. From this, we will pursue some steps from the German shepherd through Luanda's geography to know and to expose the characters and, consequently, Pepetela's kaleidoscopic writing.
