This article proposes a reflection on the representation of women in the literary prose of Orlanda Amarílis, Vera Duarte and Dina Salústio, internationally renowned Cape Verdean writers. Based on the concept of insularity, so characteristic of the culture of the African archipelago, the article proposes, by analogy, the image of a “female insularity”, an expression that seeks to demonstrate the vulnerability of women in the fight for gender equality.
