This article aims at discussing information structure under a constructionist perspective. Therefore Russian pseudo-cleft construction is analyzed in comparison with its Brazilian Portuguese and English counterparts. This analysis indicates that, at the same time that pseudo-cleft in Russian display some similarities with its counterparts in the above languages, it exhibits some specificities regarding information structure. Thus, in Russian, it is possible to postulate a particular inheritance pattern, in which the pseudo-cleft construction inherits properties from a more abstract focus construction, pairing a focus function with the final position in the sentence.
