This paper shows study results and has three main objectives: to understand how tense and aspect categories are represented in children's mental grammars, to verify which category first appears in children's grammar and to understand to what extent the semantic aspect influences the emergence of aspectual grammatical forms. The reflections were carried out based on several authors that deal with the subject and the results converge on the adoption of the division of the tense node in tense and aspect, on the acquisition of aspect before the notion of tense and on a compositional analysis of the relation between semantic aspect and grammatical aspect.
