A alternância vocálica na flexão verbal do português: análise pela morfologia autossegmental

Neste artigo, analisamos o fenômeno da alternância vocálica na flexão verbal do português com base na Morfologia Autossegmental (McCarthy, 1981; Gonçalves, 2009). Mostramos que a autossegmentação dos traços de abertura (Clements & Hume, 1995) permite expressar com bastante naturalidade os vários expoentes morfológicos envolvidos em pares como ‘pude'/‘pode', ‘consigo'/‘consegue' e ‘cubro'/ ‘cobre'.
