Processamento de pronomes plurais não anafóricos

O ponto de vista de que pronomes sempre iniciam uma busca imediata por seu antecedente guiou boa parte dos vários estudos sobre pronomes singulares e, por consequência, os poucos estudos feitos sobre o processamento de pronomes plurais. Nesse trabalho, apresentamos casos de pronomes plurais não anafóricos que desafiam essa visão clássica do processamento, segundo a qual a compreensão da linguagem depende de representações completas do input linguístico. A partir dos resultados de um experimento de leitura, defendemos a hipótese de que pronomes plurais, ao contrário do que se acredita, não iniciam uma busca imediata por antecedentes.
