Pretérito imperfeito e perífrases imperfectivas em variação na codificação da função narrativa em contos escritos em espanhol

Neste artigo, tratamos da variação linguística entre o pretérito imperfeito do indicativo e perífrases imperfectivas na codificação da função narrativa em espanhol. Nossos dados provêm de vinte e quatro contos escritos nessa língua, selecionados por comarca cultural: Caribe; México e América Central; Andes; Rio da Prata; Chile e Espanha. Obtivemos 671 dados, sendo 644 formas do pretérito imperfeito do indicativo, 96% do total, e 27 perífrases imperfectivas de passado, o que corresponde a 4% do total. Constatamos que, na função narrativa, o pretérito imperfeito ocorre, mais frequentemente, condicionado por modalidade irrealis, plano discursivo figura, objeto não afetado pela ação verbal, verbos dinâmicos e orações negativas.
