The purpose of this article is to present the trajectory of the Historical Lexicon of Brazilian Portuguese (LHisPB) from its genesis to its implementation. This is research developed within the scope of the Project for the History of Brazilian Portuguese (PHPB) and, unlike the other works that make up the History of Brazilian Portuguese series, published under the coordination of Dr. Ataliba T. de Castilho in printed format, the LHisPB comes to light in electronic format and available to the general public on the platform of the State University of Londrina. The LHisPB is currently composed of the following State Lexicons: Paraná, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, Paraíba, Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Sul. Inspired by the work by Company y Mellis (2002), Lexicon Histórico del Espan͂ol de México, the entries of each of the state units were constructed by lexical items from historical corpora dating from the 17th to the 19th centuries collected by the PHPB state teams.Downloads
