Abstract

Linguistic atitudes refer to the manifestations of the social attitudes of speakers regarding, specifically, language and its use within society. In this sense, this article analyzes the preference for the use of (non) linguistic items characterized as LGBTQIA+, in order to assess linguistic attitudes of LGBTQIA+ and cis/heterossexual individuals. Therefore, concepts about sociolinguistic, variation, attitude and linguistic identity applied to gender and sexuality are mobilized. This study is mainly qualitative and phenomenological in nature, and it is based on a questionnaire, which enabled the generation of data from 20 (twenty) participants divided into two groups: diversity - 10 LGBTQIA+, and heteronormativity - 10 cis/heterosseuxal individuals. The data indicate that some LGBTQIA+ speakers recognize usual linguistic items which involve variants marked as frequent in their community. They are, thus, phenomena of particular pragmatic circumstances, which are linguistic uses from which the cis/heterossexual group is more distant.

Doutorando e Mestre em Linguística pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba (UFPB) com especialização em Língua, Linguística e Literatura pelo Centro Universitário de Patos (UNIFIP) e em Ensino de Línguas e Literaturas pela Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB) e com período de aperfeiçoamento em Educação Étnico-racial pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Também tem graduação em Letras, com habilitação em Língua Portuguesa pela UEPB e é integrante do Grupo de Pesquisa em Contato Linguístico (UFPB/CNPq). Tem interesse em Teorias Linguísticas e Práticas Sociais da Linguagem com ênfase na Diversidade, Identidade e Educação Linguística atuando com base na Sociolinguística e suas Interfaces.
