Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) presents a rich linguistic diversity, reflecting regional, social and cultural variations within the Brazilian Deaf Community. This diversity is observed in the differences in signs, gestures and facial expressions used in different regions of the country, as well as in the social and cultural influences that shape language. This linguistic diversity is a characteristic of minority languages, emphasizing the importance of recognizing, valuing and promoting the inclusion of Libras as an independent and complete language. The understanding of the linguistic diversity of Libras contributes to a more effective and respectful communication with the Deaf Community, promoting a more inclusive society and valuing the richness of linguistic diversity.
