This study aims to investigate how different constructions with the verb saber are analyzed under the theoretical apparatus of Functional Discourse Grammar, especially Hengeveld and Mackenzie (2008) and Keizer (2015). The objective is to describe the uses of the verb saber (to know), determining its pragmatic, semantic and morphosyntactic properties in spoken Portuguese of the northwest of the State of São Paulo. The results show that the verb saber (i) has interpersonal use as an Interactive Act and as an Act modifier; (ii) within the Representational Level, it acts as the nucleus of the configurational property that constitutes the main Propositional Content, selecting a Propositional Content as an Inactive argument.
