Representations about the influence of the adviser on the researcher’s education in graduate studies: a dialogical analysis of post-graduate students’ on-line comment

Those who are interested in the networks of words and meanings about the relationship beteweem student and adviser in graduate school and the dynamics of their relationships, we aim at analizing the representations constructed by graduate students about the influence of the adviser during the researcher’s education in the graduate studies. Based on linguistic-philosophical principles of the Bakhtin Circle’s thought and on works by scholars who approach the activity of postgraduate advising and the constitution of the researcher, we carried out an interpretivist analysis of a number on-line comments extracted from blog Pós-graduando. The analysis points to the fact that the sayings uttered during the comments resonate that the adviser influence decisively on the education of the graduate student when he/she effectively accompanies the advisee in the (re)definition of the research theme, in the writing of the scientific text, in the qualification exams and defense of the dissertation or thesis and even when he offers conditions for the master’s or doctoral student, don’t give up the course.
