Immigration is a phenomenon motivated by numerous conflicts and adversities that pressure the population masses to seek better living conditions. Therefore, we analyze the social representations about Venezuelan immigrant women that are (re)produced discursively by the G1.com News Portal, thereby legitimizing gender violence and promoting the subalternization and erasure of these women in the Brazilian social context. To do this, we selected a sample of news broadcast by the G1.com News Portal, published in digital media and widely accessed. We undertook a socio-discursive analysis based on theoretical-methodological contributions from Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), according to the dialectical-relational (CHOULIARAKI; FAIRCLOUGH, 1999; FAIRCLOUGH, 2016, 2003, 2013) and socio-cognitive (VAN DIJK, 2015) approaches. in dialogue with the Theory of Social Representations (MOSCOVICI, 2019; JODELET, 2001). As for theoretical aspects, we discuss media and ideology (THOMPSON, 2011a) and consider the relationship between representation and discourse (Hall, 2016). Furthermore, we highlight the phenomenon of Feminization of migration (PADILLA, 2007) and its implications for gender relations (BUTLER, 2021), considering the gender-based violence to which these women are susceptible, through the way they are discursively represented by the media. As a result, we highlight that the journalistic media gives little emphasis to the immigration issue, in addition to silencing the voices of Venezuelan immigrants as subjects who actively participate in the social phenomenon, promoting the social invisibility of these doubly vulnerable women.
