This text proposes a reflection on the importance of touch in the forms of communication of people with deafblindness, as well as the interaction of people with deafblindness with the world around them. From a significant healing of authors who focused on the field of deafblindness, dialogues were distributed regarding the importance of the haptic system and active touch for the development of the person with deafblindness. The text begins with concepts about deafblindness and subsequently delves into the main forms of communication for deafblind people and the prerequisites for each of these forms of communication. Based on theoretical references and dialogues between them, it appears that tactile perception is the most necessary prerequisite for communication and socialization of people with deafblindness. Below we reaffirm the importance and appreciation of touch as a significant means of sensory communication, in addition to the importance of the haptic system and active touch for a person with deafblindness, establishing better kinesthetic and acoustic reception. Culminating with the importance of haptic communication as recognition through tactile reception of emotional expressions, attractive environments and targeted messages.
Keywords: Deafblindness. Haptic system. Active touch. Forms of communication.
