Interview with Ana Müller: a career guided by the love of research and the expansion of Formal Semantics in Brazil

Ana Lúcia de Paula Müller, professor “Livre Docente” at the Department of Linguistics at USP is a formal semanticist dedicated to the semantics of Brazilian indigenous languages, to the semantics of Portuguese and to the applications of semantics to teaching. She is among the founders of the area of studies of Formal Semantics, in the line of Partee (1986), Heim and Kratzer (1998) in Brazil. She organized the very first Workshop on Formal Linguistics as well as many other editions, and was honored by the fourteenth edition, the XIV Workshop on Formal Linguistics, which took place in 2024, in Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). In this interview, she talks about her journey and shares with us her ideas about her current fields of investigation.
