In a time tunnel with Anthony J. Naro: memories of Marta Scherre

Abstract

In this modest tribute to Anthony Julius Naro, whom we affectionately called Naro, my lifelong adviser, friend, and academic colleague, I go back in time and share my memories of our close academic collaboration as Naro & Scherre and Scherre & Naro, which lasted more than forty years, from 1974 to 2018. As I recall those years, I want to stress that “Naro is still here.”

Maria Marta Pereira Scherre, Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (UFES)

Doutora em Linguística pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Atuou como docente na UFRJ, UnB e UFES. Atualmente é professora colaboradora no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Linguística da Universidade de Brasília. É pesquisadora do CNPq e membro dos seguintes grupos de pesquisa: PEUL-UFRJ, VALCO_Geas-UnB; PortVix-UFES. Atua na área de Linguística, com ênfase em Sociolinguística e Dialetologia, nos temas: variação linguística, mudança linguística, português brasileiro, concordância verbal de terceira e de primeira pessoa, concordância nominal de número, imperativo gramatical, pronomes de segunda pessoa e preconceito linguístico.
