We focus on the representation of the first-person plural in alagoana speech, aiming to present a systematization of research results on the variation between nós and a gente in the subject and non-subject positions, as well as on verbal agreement with the pronouns nós and a gente. To this end, we adopted descriptive and inferential statistical analysis methods and controlled for the community variable, in order to answer the following questions: what is the linguistic behavior of the representation of the first-person plural in the alagoana variety? Are there statistically significant differences in this behavior compared to the speech community? The results show that community is an important variable in the representation of the first person in the alagoana variety, as it shows that a gente is more frequent in more urbanized communities, both as a subject and as a non-subject, and that the non-standard variant of verbal agreement with nós is more frequent in more rural communities, while the non-standard variant of agreement with a gente is more frequent in more urban communities. This leads us to consider that the urbanization process is an important factor for these variable linguistic contexts.
