Fields of Possibility, Liminarity and Drift: Trajectories of Juvenile Delinquents in the Vitória Metropolitan Area

Abstract

In this paper we discuss visions of juvenile delinquents on their own trajectories. The stories were collected in interviews in centers for internment in the Vitória Metropolitan Area. Four trajectories are explored in detail in this paper. The main goal is to comprehend how they make projects for their lives. We believe the situation of internment is one of liminarity. Thus, it is explored the metamorphosis they have lived in a situation of drift, in order to comprehend the fields of possibilities. This situation may help to build projects, but also allows to see the interference of elements that they do not control.

Professor do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia Sul-Rio-Grandense (IFSul, Lajeado, Brasil) e pós-doutor pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Sociologia da Universidade Federal de Pelotas (UFPel, Brasil). Possui doutorado em sociologia pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Sociologia e Antropologia (PPGSA), da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ, Brasil), mestrado pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Sociologia e Direito (PPGSD), da  Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF, Niterói, Brasil), e bacharelado e licenciatura plena em ciências sociais pela Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (Ufes, Vitória, Brasil).
