Este volume recolle un ramallete de traballos sobre a variación léxica no espazo galegoportugués, desde distintas perspectivas de estudo e con olladas lanzadas desde Galicia e Portugal, en Europa, e desde O Brasil, na América, cunha paradiña, en tránsito, desde o arquipélago das Canarias. Por iso o seu primeiro título, que lembra a galegos e portugueses incitados por igual a sucar os mares do mundo, e en particular este océano que nos une co Brasil, en permanente viaxe de ida e volta. E por iso, tamén, a dedicatoria a Suzana Cardoso, mestra inesquecible, sempre cos brazos abertos e as dúas mans tendidas, en sinal perpetuo de irmandade.
