Abstract

ABSTRACT:

This study explores the poem "Lá no Água Grande" by Alda Espírito Santo, analyzing how the work portrays the experience of black women in São Tomé and Príncipe in the post-colonial context. The analysis is structured around three main axes: nature as an active element, work as a collective ritual and the community between laughter and silence. Through postcolonial, feminist and ecocritical theories, the study examines the nuances of resistance and contradiction in the work, emphasizing the importance of collective memory and the deconstruction of Eurocentric narratives. Espírito Santo's poetry is interpreted as a political act of identity redefinition and cultural resistance. The study highlights the intricate relationship between work, gender, race and nature in the post-colonial scenario, and demonstrates how the poem transforms women's daily lives into a literary testimony of resistance and belonging, contributing to literary studies and the visibility of female authorship in the context of African literature.
