Literacy for children: a look at the children’s learning process with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD)

This study seeks to understand the complexity of anomalous manifestations of autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). There is a lot of very advanced research on childhood autism, the etiology is complex, although there are still many contradictions about what autism really is. The manifestation and clinical diagnosis occur through characteristics such as the difficulty to interact socially, the delay in language acquisition and the difficulty in the language domain: echolalia, restraining and repetitive behavior. In this sense, this article aimed to analyze the pedagogical practices used in the process of literacy of the autistic child; and as specific objectives: (a) researching what ASD is; (b) identifying the severity levels of the ASD; (c) researching the methods used to literate children with ASD; (d) understanding the idiosyncrasies of learning in ASD; (e) and understanding the role of affective competencies in the learning process in ASD. For the development of this work, bibliographic research is used.
