This work, entitled “The field of “Languages” in the BNCC: a reflection on the teaching of Portuguese and English” is the result of an investigation developed in the Professional Graduate Program in Languages and Literatures Courses (PROFLETRAS) of the Federal University of Acre (UFAC), more particularly in the development of the discipline Text and Teaching, which is one of the curricular components belonging to the formation of those who attend the mentioned Program. In this sense, the proposal of the discussion focused on an interpretative analysis of the mentions, and consequently, of the use of the field “Languages” in the Common Curricular Base in force in Brazil, starting in 2018. In order to do so, we aimed to interpret how the “Languages”, regarding the teaching of Portuguese language and English language in the final years of Elementary Education, are addressed by the Base and how in the educational perspectives of the document under analysis, these curricular components can be inserted in the practices involving the teaching and learning of Portuguese and English. The research, which resulted in this article, was aligned to the analysis of bibliographic references and, therefore, constituted an interpretative-exploratory study, as the analysis of the Base occurred from the reflection obtained from the readings of studies already conducted on the BNCC, such as the document per se Brasil (2018), in addition to Frasseto (2019), Szundy (2019) - among other studies, such as the already mentioned Szundy, available in Gerhardt; Amorim (2019) - and Pacheco; Silva (2019). To produce a critical look at the BNCC, in addition to these works, we resorted to Freire’s proposal of dialogic education (2011), the discussion on critical interculturality developed by Walsh (2010), and the construction of the relationship between Linguistics and Education fields, more precisely the interweaving between reading and writing practices in educational contexts, discussed by Faraco; Tezza (2016), Faraco (2018), and Rocha; Souza (2020). Through this research, it was concluded, in general, that the BNCC proposes a Portuguese and English teaching focused on the individual knowledge of the subject, mainly to obtain professional success, producing a meritocratic effect on the education of students.Downloads
