In this work, it is argued in favor of the hypothesis that the treatise on acedia in the codex alc. 461 of the National Library of Portugal is an adaptation into medieval Portuguese of Summa de Vitiis by Guilelmus Peraldus, based on a high degree of textual recomposition. To support this hypothesis, the practice of translation in the Middle Ages is briefly discussed, an interpretative edition of this Portuguese text is presented and a detailed analysis is made of it, bearing in mind its relationship with the Latin version present in the codex alc. 196 of the National Library of Portugal, both codices belonging to the collection of the Library of the Monastery of Alcobaça.
