Accusative objects of 3rd person in carioca variety of Brazilian Portuguese

Abstract

In this paper, our aim is to present the results of our research about the 3rd anaphoric accusative object in the carioca variety of Brazilian Portuguese based on PEUL interviews. Considering the studies of Duarte (1986), Cyrino (1994), Casagrande (2012), Kato, Martins e Nunes (2023) and our research (Simões, 2015, 2022), our hypothesis was that there would be restrictions or impossibility to lexical pronouns expression if nouns are [-animated; -specific] indefinite or quantified. Regarding the theoretical approach, generative grammar (Chomsky, 1981, 1986) and sociolinguist perspective (Labov, 2008; Weinreich; Labov; Herzog, 2009) were combined. We confirmed our hypothesis and we proposed the generative analysis developed in Simões (2015) on lexical pronouns and null objects constructions in the carioca variety of Brazilian Portuguese.

Adriana Martins Simões, Universidade Federal de Alfenas (UNIFAL-MG)

Possui graduação em Letras - Bacharelado (2006) e Licenciatura (2006) em Português e Espanhol pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP) e Mestrado (2010) e Doutorado em Letras (2015) pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Língua Espanhola e Literaturas Espanhola e Hispano-Americana da Faculdade de Filosofia, Letras e Ciências Humanas (FFLCH-USP) da mesma instituição. Tem experiência na área de Letras e Linguística, com ênfase em sintaxe comparada, aquisição/aprendizagem, Letras Estrangeiras Modernas e Língua Portuguesa, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: gramática do espanhol comparada ao português brasileiro, objeto pronominal acusativo, variação e mudança linguística, aquisição/aprendizagem de espanhol/LE, gramática não nativa, coexistência de gramáticas. Foi docente substituta de Língua Espanhola no Departamento de Letras Modernas da FFLCH-USP. Atualmente é docente do Departamento de Letras do Instituto de Ciências Humanas e Letras da Universidade Federal de Alfenas (Unifal/MG). É integrante do grupo de pesquisa Fontanella de Weinberg - Grupo de Estudios Gramaticales y Sociohistóricos del Español (CNPq/U FBA).
