Vol. 14 No. 28 (2020): PARMÊNIDES EON 2
We started in 2020 the Project EON – Eleatic Ontology: origin and reception, conceived by Nicola Galgano (PUC-SP; USP), a broad work of international cooperation that should extend over several years and various means of publication. The first Tome of Volume 1 is being published in our issues of 2020, making up the special dossier of Volume 14 of the journal with articles in English, Portuguese, French and Italian, some published in bilingual versions.
Eleatic Ontology: origin and reception is an encyclopedic collection of articles about the entire history of Eleatic Ontology, gathered from scholars from all over the world. In the interest of this worldwide orientation, and thanks to the current technical conditions in academic publishing, we are trying to avoid centralization, publishing them in many open-access journals around the world. The first publication, Tome 1.1, Sources of Eleatic Ontology, appears in Anais de Filosofia Clássica, which is located at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in Brazil. The next publication, Tome 1.5, Eleatic Ontology: reception in Aristotle, will be in Poland under the care of Peitho. Examina Antiqua, the important Polish journal of Classics situated in Poznan. With this move, we expect that all journals that publish Tomes of this collection can work in partnership and promote contacts and improvements in the best interest of philosophy, philosophers and all those who like to practice this indispensable discipline of thought. We would like to thank and salute Dr. Fernando Santoro, editor of Anais de Filosofia Clássica, and Dr. Mikolaj Domaradzski, editor-in-chief of Peitho. Examina Antiqua for their pioneering roles in this challenging endeavour toward the future.
The journal continues to receive articles and reviews in a continuous flow, such as the article on political rationalism at the Republic, by Rogério Castro (UECE), the review of Rossetti's book on new perspectives of the Eleatic Philosophy by Marco Montagnino (Un. di Palermo).
We have a provocative interview by Rossella Saetta Cottone with Massimo Stella, on the disturbing book of Diego Lanza, Lo Stolto... The “fool” an important character of classical comedies, an ironic voice of popular awareness...
We also have a translation of John Burnet’s seminal article Law and Nature in Greek Ethics, by Wilder Silva de Souza (UFSM) and Gionatan Carlos Pacheco (UFSM) – original paper disposable from a courtesy by JSTOR.
