Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of the experience of rural farmers in cashew cultivation and aims to provide a brief overview of the waste associated with the cashew peduncle within the family rural environment. It also seeks to elucidate solutions to the socioeconomic and environmental problems caused by this waste through the integral utilization of food. A qualitative methodological process was employed for this study, which included the application of semi-structured interviews and bibliographic research. The findings indicate that the greatest challenge within this topic is the limited knowledge of farmers regarding the integral utilization of food and the excessive waste of the cashew peduncle.
