Abstract

This experience report is the result of the rapprochement between Brazilian cuisine and the education of 35 children from a private school in the city of Curitiba. The primary objective of this activity was to introduce children to the formation of Brazilian cuisine, in order to encourage them to know, reproduce and respect local preparations. In addition, the secondary objective of instigating ideas for the formation of works presented at the “Mostra do Conhecimento”, an event held annually at the institution, was present. The class, which was repeated for two groups, comprised theory and practice. First, the introduction of the history and expressions of Brazilian food and, finally, the baking of a maize flour cake recipe, once corn received thematic focus. In short, the interests in Brazilian cuisine and the work produced by the students demonstrated that the objectives proposed for this activity were coherent and capable of being achieved.
