Abstract

In 2019, an Extraordinary Appeal was filed by the Public Prosecutor of Rio Grande do Sul against laws that protect animal sacralization in African matrices religions. From this, this article analyzes some positions in relation to this event linked to some black movements, racial policies and, especially, food. It is necessary to understand how black food culture activist movements observe and analyze this process. Understanding regarding sacralization and religious intolerance in the rites of African-based religions is also important because of the need to oppose the common sense view and realize the importance of valuing and respecting cultures, thus recognizing the various ways to eat.
