Abstract

This exploratory and qualitative study aims to check the dynamics related to popcorn consumption in movie theatres in view of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the 2030 Agenda (UN, 2015). For that, have been verified different documents and speeches from the distinctive social actors, as well as observed Brazilian and European movie theaters. By examining the 2030 Agenda goals and their respective targets with that focus, it was verified that, when it comes to cinemas, the pillar of the economy supplants the ecological and social pillars of sustainability, distancing itself from the sustainable balance, targeted by the SDGs.
